Old Dog, New tricks

Comic books are the go to for Hollywood Blockbusters.

We pretty much are gearing up for
a Wolverine flick (Yay for Hugh Jackman, making it less painful for girls to attend
movies) that promises to be every bit the blockbuster the previous X-men films were.

*And Yes, I say this despite not having really watched the third X-men film.

With Dark Knight, Hell Boy 2 and the Incredible Hulk dropping this summer, one has to
wonder what will happen if Hollywood runs out of comics to adapt to the big screen.
(Unless they do a Garfield 7, because Bill Murray will need the money for his lawyer)

Well, they already have the answer my friend. And that answer is Anime.

Anime is Japanese Animation, and it dates all the way back to Astro Boy (which is also
getting the big screen treatment). It seems that Hollywood is still going forward with plans to bring crazy haired antics onto the big screen. Speed racer was probably a test to see how well audiences would respond to such storylines. Even though the experiment failed, in the next few years, we will all be gearing up to see Akira, and Dragon Ball Z!
Depending on how well the movies are recieved, I don't expect they'll stop anytime soon.

In Japan, it's pretty much a guaranteed block buster to adapt anime. If you want a preview of anime brought to life, look no further then Death Note the Movie. As for me, I'll be waiting for the premiere of Yattaman in 2009.
